In 2006, as Chief Minister of Gujarat, Rann Utsav was our beloved Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s dream. In 2006, he opened the first Rann of Kutch Festival to represent the Gujarat culture and to promote the Kutch Tourism, an important hub of Gujarat Tourism. The festival attracted many worldwide visitors to Gujarat and was part of the three-day celebration of State culture and tradition. A 3-day celebration was observed in the first year of the Rann de Kutch Festival. Later on, it was increased in demand and was celebrating it for 100 days.



Where is the Rann Utsav or  White Desert Festival celebrated?


In Dhordo, a village in Kutch 85 kilometers away from Bhuj, the Rann Utsav is organized. It has a forest of 3,800 square miles in the Rann of Kutch region. The White Desert is found in the district of Kutch in the north of Tropic of Cancer. The area is known for fostering and preserving Gujarat’s culture and tradition. This is India’s and Pakistan’s official border. Rann Utsav includes lots of leisure and tourist sights, but here are some of the most popular attractions the temple town is situated near the village of Dhordo, with nearly 400 AC and Non-AC tents where visitors from a vast area will be accommodated.

How to get to Rann Utsav from Kutch?

The nearest airport you can fly to is the Airport of Bhuj, 86 km from the village of Dhordo, which is the venue of the White Desert Festive, in order to reach Rann of Kutch 2019. Bhuj is the closest railway station connected with several of India’s main cities if you want to fly by train. It is even possible to book low-cost flights to Bhuj, followed by rail to Ahmedabad for 2 hours.




The Kutch Express to Gandhi Dham is another route from Mumbai for travelers. Gandhi’s Dham is 135 kilometers away. A 3-4 hour drive to the tent city, as you go along the beautiful landscape, is also a fantastic experience. If you want to take a bus to Dhordo, many of Gujarat’s cities can be reached by public bus.
